Kovan Baldwin

The name Kovan is quickly becoming indistinguishable with the words shooting star. In 2010, Kovan has been mentioned at the Minneapolis Black Music Awards as one to watch and in July 2010, Kovan and his single for his hit song “Let Me See You Do It” were mentioned in Source Magazine. Well there is no question as to where Kovan is going, he is on his way to the top of the music charts and he is set to change the world.
Who is Kovan
Kovan is an R&B singer and songwriter. Raised in the infamous North Minneapolis, Kovan sets out to change the world, by being an advocate for the youth to stop violence.
At an early age Kovan’s talented voice was noticed by many. He sang in the church choir from Kindergarten through High School. He completed his first album, “Gifted” while he was a sophomore in High School. Speaking with Kovan, you will immediately notice that God is very present in his life and music. While he is not a gospel singer, Kovan manages to deliver music that spiritual, filled with emotion, and up lifting. Now a senior at Augsburg College majoring in Mass Communication and Ministry, the R&B singer has been keeping the world at bay with his talents until he finishes his degree in May 2011.
Inspiration
When asked about inspirations, Kovan quickly answered God and his parents. His answers showed me that this is not your typical R&B artist. Kovan is extremely humble about his talents and his superb songwriting skills. He is also inspired by the mighty Temptations.
Passion
Singing and songwriting is Kovan’s world. When listening to his music you can tell that it comes naturally to him and he loves what he does. He sings when he is happy; he sings when he is sad; he sings to make people smile, and when you hear his voice live, it will be hard for you to resist smiling.
Projects and Goals
He is currently finishing up his solo album. Kovan’s soulful voice will also be heard on a few mixed tapes that will be released shortly.
One of Kovan’s dream is to set out on a nationwide tour to promote positive images for the youth and to eliminate violence in the streets.

I support and believe in you. Your desire to influence the youth of your community and nation is admirable and i hope that you never lose sight of that. We need the youth to show the youth that there is infact a better way. While your music willl touch the hearts of many, I am more excited to see how it will change the minds and actions of our youth. God bless Kovan. You are in your final semester of college, I wish you the best in that transition and all you set out to do this year.
