The Vikings faced another difficult battle against the Raiders. They actually gave us a little hope in the beginning of the game, but totally lost it in the second quarter. Even though they tried their hardest, they could not bring the game back. The fundamental mistakes lost the game. But the question is how do we stop the bleeding and get the Vikings back on the right track? While us Vikings fans sit and watch the games it seems easy to us; stop making all of the mistakes!
Christian Ponder the rookie on the team threw 3 interceptions and was sacked five times. Ponder told the media that he felt he did make a lot of mistakes, but he will take what he learned from this game to improve his performance. Frazier feels that this is a part of the growing pains of having a rookie quarterback. But is this is not the preseason, at some point, if Ponder does not get the hang of things there may need to be some changes if the Vikings want to win.
Losing Adrian Peterson in the game also did not help the Vikings game. AP is a leader for this team and when you lose your best offensive player, you lose the opportunity to score. According to the injury report released this week, Adrian has suffered a high ankle sprain. Based on his progress they will assess his ability to play on Sunday. If Adrian cannot play, Frazier looks to play Toby Gerhart or Lorenzo Booker. At this time he will not be looking to play any of the practice squad members for Sunday’s game. So if we don't have AP we need to get the ball in Percy Harvin's hands.
Frazier recognizes that the team is making some very fundamental mistakes and is working on doing what they can to prevent them. Frazier says, “As a coach all you can do is continue to point out the mistakes and how they affect the win-lose record and you continue to that that with the people you have or you get better people who can.”
He also noted that special teams is having some containment issues. They will need to assess if they have the right people in those spots and Frazier feels this has to be fixed before playing the Falcons on Sunday.
It sounds like the Vikings know what they are doing wrong, and they know what to do on Sunday. All we can do is pray they play a good clean game.

The Vikings kicked off with a great preseason. The Vikings went 3-1, and they look faster, younger, and more aggressive, why you might ask….THE COACHING CHANGES! The defense has made tremendous improvements and will continue to get better with the hiring of hall of fame legend Mike Singletary who was named special assistant to the head coach. With his help the linebacker core will become a force to deal with.
Now let’s talk about the secondary. We have 4 new starters who are inexperienced, but sad to say they are still an upgrade. Last year they had problems covering down field so with a healthy Cedric Griffin, and Marcus Sherels who had a great pre-season, they can help the defense be stronger.
Now with the lost of Brett Favre they bring in another soon to be Hall of Fame quarterback in Donovan McNabb. Who’s career has a great resume for the job from the Superbowl to being the all-time leader in quarterback stats with the Eagles, but the question is, if he has the receiver core to get the job done .So Adrian Peterson; a Pro-bowl running back, Berrian, Harvin, and free agent; Michael Jenkins will need to step up to win games.
If I had to grade both teams, I would give the offense an "A" and the defense a "B". McNabb gave the NFL fans a great peak at what could be a promising season and the defense's youth is going to be their strong suit. But overall, it all comes down to who has the ability to lead the team and the recent change to the coaching staff was a good move.
Bottom line I predict the division in this order:
1. Green Bay Packers
2. Minnesota Viking
3. Detroit Lions
4. Chicago Bears
Pre-editions
Wildcard
Minnesota Vikings
