Mothers, daughters, sisters, and girlfriends gathered at Target Center for the Celebration of Women, Lilith Fair. Throughout the arena there was an aura of sisterhood. Everyone seemed to act as they were long time friends and family reuniting for a special occasion. Standing on line women spoke to each about how happy they were that the concert was moved indoors from Canterbury Downs, what a great line up of artist performing, and of course what types of goodies/samples were going to be given in the fair. But everyone had one thing in common and that was their passion for change. Lilith Fair was created by Sarah McLachlan in an effort to give female performers a tour like venue to showcase their talent. This year’s Lilith Fair included Courtyard Hounds former Dixie Chicks, Metric, the classic 90’s rock Heart, new Motown Universal records artist Vita Chambers, British Pop Artist Kate Nash, the Queen of Hip Hop R&B Mary J. Blige, and Sarah McLachlan. The concert gives you a taste of many genresof music. Lilith is more than just a concert; portions of the proceeds are donated to social/ nonprofit companies. These companies all are on the forefront to help change the world. The Lilith Fair presented a check to The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota during a press conference prior to the show. The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota foresees the advancement of equality for all women and girls in the areas of economic justice, safety and security, health and reproductive rights, human rights, and political power. i4c is also part of Lilith Fair tour and the campaign chose four companies to donate the concert proceeds they were:

The performances were out of this world! Vita Chambers a new comer to the music industry is definitely one to watch. She has an edgy soulful, rock style. Heart rocked the house with their rendition of Barracuda. Mary J. brought the crowd to their feet when she performed U2’s hit “One.” Sarah McLachlan closed the show doing a few new songs from her Laws of Illusion and an encore performance from all of her headlining artist.
