EDINA, Minn., Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Learning disorders are just one of many neurological problems that affect children today. They also include hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and minimal brain damage among others.
The number of children diagnosed with these conditions is growing at a staggering rate, as medical historian Harris Coulter, Ph.D. has noted:
These disorders have received the appellation "developmental disabilities." Probably the leading one is dyslexia," also called "minimal brain damage." Another prominent one is "autism." But there are many others. Approximately twenty percent of American children - one youngster in five - suffers from a "developmental disability."

Do you know that You have the POWER to stop most cancers before they start? Let’s take prostate or, colon cancer for example. Colon cancer begins with a growth, called a polyp that is not yet a cancer. Simple tests help your doctor tell whether or not there is a problem, and some tests can find polyps before they become cancerous. If it found early, with treatment, you have a good chance of beating it.
Common medical philosophy holds that starting at age 50 your doctor should offer to test you for prostate cancer as part of your yearly check-up.
If there is any question in your mind asking; "Should I be tested?"
Let us answer you in language you understand-"Hell yes, you should be tested-the sooner the better!"
DON'T BE SCURRED.... EARLY DETECTION Can save your life, or ones that you love!
The sad reality of Black male life is, in a majority of cases that there is no regular doctor, and no yearly checkup. In which case, it is up to you to make a way for this to happen. Find, create, make, scam, or plead a way for this to happen. Your life literally depends on it.
In the Twin Cities one greatly underutilized avenue of getting ones prostate tested for cancer (with a minimum of red tape, and direct contact with a REAL brother) is through NORTHPOINT HEALTH and WELLNESS CENTER INC. located in Minneapolis, at Plymouth and PENN Avenues North. Prevention and Detection are the two main ideas to bear in mind. The primary idea that you need to understand and act on is;
That your health and wellbeing is your responsibility -so get on it! There is no excuse for you not loving you enough to save, prolong, and enhance the beauty of your life.
The most common form of cancer among African American males is prostate cancer at 40%, followed by lung cancer at 15%, and last at 9% but no less deadly, is colon and rectal cancer. For African American females, breast cancer is by far the most common, with lung cancer at 15% and 11% colon and rectal cancer.
Do not fool yourself, mislead, dismiss, or get it twisted, in any way that smaller percentages mean or imply less deadly. All cancers have potential to be deadly, and all must be detected in ample time to be treated.
According to a special report released on February 1, 2011 by the Journal of American Medicine;
Fewer African Americans are dying from cancer, but compared to White Americans their length of survival is shorter, and the fatality rate is still far higher....The good news is that less of us are dying, but the ones that are; are dying faster, harder deaths!
The socio-economic link to status and cancer has been proven over and over again, but if one needs corroborating facts-one only need to access Dr. Tim Byers' research (Colorado School of Public Health 2008) that links socio-economic status and cancer. The report concludes that: "for those of lower classes diagnosed with cancer, there was a 35% GREATER likelihood that they would die".
